My Freebies: 2010 Edition (With Picture Flood!)

I'm a little late for this, but Pajiba posted its annual list of the 10 Most Bangable Celebrities on the Planet , as chosen by the readers. It's a great list, even if I don't completely agree with it (only one of the men would be on my top 10). What's great about it, I think, is that you won't see another list quite like that on the internet. Like the intro says:

You won’t find Shia LaBeouf here, or Megan Fox, or Scarlett Johansson, and you sure as hell won’t find anyone from Twilight. But what you will find are celebrities who mix sex appeal with smart movies and TV, with occasionally risky career choices, and with intelligent senses of humor.

Damn true. And that's why I like the actual voting almost as much as the final list--I finally got to see people who had 'freebies' lists that were eerily close to mine. Plus it's just a lot of fun.

And the best thing about it is that it allows me to make this post, with a real flood of photos of the men I'd put in my top 5. I mean, listen, I know it's a completely frivolous exercise, but it's my blog and I'll objectify if I want to. Plus, I also like their brains (no! for real!).

That plus, according to StatCounter, I get most of my page hits from people looking for photos of hot men.

God, you people are perverts. I spoil you so.

Here we go!

My Freebies List, 2010 Edition

1. Eric Bana

I've said enough about this guy for everyone to know how I feel about him. And my complete approval of him was reinforced by watching The Time Traveler's Wife a couple of weeks ago. It wasn't the greatest movie (and definitely an inferior adaptation) but goodness, he was gorgeous in it. I think he's more than a decent actor, and it's a real shame that he hasn't really broken through to a higher level of fame. He needs to get better roles. The guy's a great dramatic actor and just beautiful to look at. He does a passable American accent, but his native Australian one is very appealing. He can also be very, very funny. He's hilarious and just plain likable in interviews. So here's to hoping this is his year.

2. Alexander Skarsgard
The Super Swede is a new addition to my list, after he quickly rocketed himself up to the top of my favorites thanks to True Blood. And I usually don't even like blond, blue-eyed men. But there's always an exception to the rule, and this guy is it. He's tall, lean, intense, beautiful. He's also a great actor, and his Eric Northman in True Blood quickly became my favorite character. Everything from the way he talks to the way he moves gives life to the character, and it doesn't hurt that he's either shirtless or fully naked in just about every episode. Now he's a vampire who'd be worth it. And he doesn't even SPARKLE. Seriously, Edward. Stop trying.

3. Naveen Andrews
I honestly think that one of the biggest reasons I was so upset when Lost ended is that it was the end of my Weekly BeefCake Night. When are we gonna show like that again, where 90% of the cast was gorgeous and spent most of their time either shirtless or wet? Never, that's when.

And I will miss Sayid the most. I don't know if he'll be on my list next year (unless he shows up in another TV show SOON) but he'll always be on my top 10. He's a truly great actor, has an incredibly sexy accent. And the skin, the hair, the eyes, the mouth? Those don't hurt either.

4. Christian Bale
OK, so the guy might be a bit of a hardass who yells at people a lot. But I'm not gonna get into all that craziness. Dammit, he's one of the best actors of his generation. He's intense, to say the least, and it comes through in his films. He's also unnaturally good looking. That's an extra.

Plus, he's freakin' Batman. Best superhero of all time. Don't even need to say more.

(I love that first photo)

5. Jon Hamm
I think a quote from Tina Fey on 30 Rock sums this man up pretty well:
"He looks like a comic book pilot!"

Be honest now. Is there a more perfect example of dashing out there? The chiseled jaw, the eyebrows, the eyes, the hair. The way he wears a suit better than anyone else on the planet. How goofy he can be. Just about every single interview I've seen him do has the interviewer in a titter and there's ALWAYS some comment made on how good looking he is (and keep in mind that most of these interviewers are MEN). I mean, it was the theme of his entire run on 30 Rock! I'm only sad that it took so long for me (and the world, I think) to discover him in Mad Men. And the man can do everything. He's suave as hell, is a brilliant dramatic actor and has great comedic timing as well--his episode of SNL was possibly the only one I've enjoyed all the way through and NOT just because of how damn good looking he is.

A friend of mine and I have decided that he needs to star in a superhero movie, NOW. He suggested a Superman 2 remake. I heartily concur.

That's a good looking dude.

**

And ta-da! Here's a couple of Honorable Mentions that I keep moving around depending on my mood or how often I see them.

You can't have enough hot men, I say.

Honorable Mention #1:

Reynaldo Gianecchini

Brazilian soap opera star, all around gorgeous guy.

Honorable Mention #2:

Sean Bean

Best looking man in all of England, I think.

Honorable Mention #3:

Alan Rickman

It's the voice. Oh, Colonel Brandon...

**

Alright! Hope you've enjoyed yourselves as much as I did. I love doing these things--it's my firm belief that everyone needs to indulge in a little silliness now and then.

MrFig understands.

Gratutious Shirtlessness is Our Guarantee

"The Ten Most Inexplicably Attractive Villains in Movies at TV

I made that! with some help, of course, from Doctor Who and Whedon fans (two groups to which I really, really do not belong to). Some of my favorites are there--Skarsgard of course (though he's technically not THE villain in True Blood), Sean Bean, Christian Bale, Denzel Washington. My ultimate Alan Rickman character is Colonel Brandon from Sense and Sensibility, though the truth is that with his voice, he's my favorite in anything he's in.

Anyway, the point of this (besides a Pajiba pimpin') is that I promised some shirtlessness at the end of the column. And then I realized that I hadn't posted any hot men in ages and ages, and that's hardly true advertising. On top of that, it's come to my attention (thanks to StatCounter) that my most popular posts seem to be, well, those containing the shirtless men. And hey, I like the attention so I might as well post some more.

So. Here's my latest celebrity crush in 5 easy photos. Because why the hell not, right? Plus what with the vampire (or pseudo-vampire anyway, when it comes to Twilight) theme that's been going on here lately, it only makes sense.

And so, because I want to make people happy, here's Alexander Skarsgard.

He wears this outfit quite a bit in True Blood. And it's a good thing he does, too.

No one has ever looked this good in a black tank top and vampire makeup.

In normal face. I normally don't even like blondes, but this one? Yow.

Couldn't miss the shirtless photo.

I think after that one, even Bella 'Klutz' Swan would say "Edward who? RAWR".

You're welcome.

PS: If you click on the 'Shp' tag right below this, you can get to all the shirtless posts I've made. There's...a surprising amount of them.

A Sunday (but actually Monday or maybe Tuesday) Hot Post:

on my 5 Freebies. Because, let's face it, I love looking at these dudes and so will you. Because I have impeccable taste.

Not a whole lot of commentary with this, just a long and beautiful spam of photographs of one of the most perfect human beings on the planet (and one you've probably never heard about):

Reynaldo Gianecchini.

I've gone on about him before, but in a few words he's a brazilian soap opera star slash model slash theather actor slash minor god. I think I might go to Brazil. I'm sure my fiance won't mind.

So, enjoy!

**Oh, and in case you don't notice as you scroll down he'll be wearing progressively fewer clothes. Because that is how I roll.***

this smile makes rainbows happen

woo! wet shirt!

The Sunday Hot Post: X-Men Edition

There's been a lot of Wolverine: X-Men Origins talk lately. The marketing has been insane, and it starts the big Summer Movie Season.

Ever since it premiered on Friday, however, most of the talk has revolved over how much the movie sucks.

Of course it sucks. Did anyone, from the moment the idea of a spin-off after the weakest of the X-Men movie was floated around, think that it would not suck? Come on. You knew, and I knew, and everyone knew that it was going to be a brainless, fun blockbuster with lots of explosions and good-looking people.

And I want to see this. It makes no sense. It's doubtless a horrible movie, and giving it money will only encourage Hollywood to keep making atrocities and ruining our childhood memories. I shouldn't watch it. You shouldn't watch it. No one should watch it.

I'll still watch it. And if none of my excuses are valid (mindless fun, good time, crap blowing up everywhere ), then I'll just point out the most basic reason why I want to watch this.

The beefcake. Pure and simple. Sometimes one just wants to see some hot men taking off their shirts, getting sweaty and bloody amidst an orgy of CGI explosions and superpowers.

And I refuse to feel guilty about it. So, here they are. The X-Men. If you're wondering why it made so much money, this could be an explanation.

1. Hugh Jackman (Wolverine)

Here's the thing about me and Hugh Jackman. I suffer from what I call the Viggo/Aragorn Syndrome. The idea is this: When he is clean and neatly shaven, I don't find the actor attractive. At all. I am completely indifferent. There is something there, but no sparks.

And then they show up in a movie all sweaty and hairy and ACTION HERO and it's BAM. There goes my indifference. He's a completely new man. And oh boy, he is hot. Examples of this are Viggo Mortensen (nothing. But as Aragorn? YOW.) and this man. Hugh Jackman.

Eeeh. He's...alright I guess.

Oh. Oh my. Yes. Yes, please.

Yow. Oh...my.

*blink*

Sorry I was gone for a while. OK moving on.

2. Liev Schrieber (Sabertooth)

Though not really known for his hotness (outside the fighouse, of course), this guy is a ridiculously good looking specimen. And a fantastic actor to boot. He's serious, intense, and he's made some pretty good movies. And oh man, he's hot.

Alright. It's a hot-off.

I make vests look hot.

He's shirtless. And feeding a baby. It's ridiculous. You're welcome.

3. Taylor Kitsch (Gambit)

I don't really know that much about him. Other than he's shirtless a lot. Hmm...maybe I don't really need to know anything else.

Dang. He sure is purdy. That smile makes rainbows happen.

All-American Hot Dude.

mmm. brooding.

4. Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool)

I'll say this right at the start: I'm not a big RR fan. He strikes me as something of a douchy frat boy. And I'm not really into frat-boy types.

But damn if the guy isn't built like a greek deity. And he makes it almost impossible not to like him. I hate him a little for not letting me hate him completely. Damn him and his shirtlessness.

I can't believe I watched this movie. But can you blame me?

Ngh.

Dammit. Stop looking at me like that. DAMMIT. Stop being so cute. ARGH.

5. Dominic Monaghan

I remember when I first heard of this guy. It was way back before Fellowship of the Ring came out, and every woman around was going insane over the cast. I guiltily admit that I fixated on Dominic Monaghan more than was strictly necessary. But really, he was Merry, my favorite character, and he was just freakin' adorable. And then he went on Lost and I hated him a little but he's still adorable. I hear he doesn't do much in X-Men, but any excuse is good when doing these things.

Confession: I kind of have a thing for big ears. A big thing.

Lost=beach=shirtless=YES

*****

Ta-daa!

I rest my case.

And as a parting blow, here's a completely gratuitious photo of Hugh Jackman. Shirtless. In a towel. Sweaty. With a golf club.

You are welcome.

I hope this drove away some of the end-of-the-week blues.

Have a great week!
